The BUAV is the governing body for Baseball umpires in Victoria. The BUAV is part of Baseball Victoria and provides its members the following: Set Policies, Quality Standards and Advocacy within the organisation. Training and Accreditation for all members by ABF accredited instructors. Ensuring that the game of Baseball is maintained in a good light.
So you want to be an Umpire... BUAV provides every member an opportunity to reach a level of officiating that they are willing to achieve based on there on goals. From Level 0 to Level 5 (All accreditation is done by the ABF).  These goals are achieved through officiating games during the season and attending a prescribed training seminar. During the season BUAV members attend monthly training session for on-going education and information session.
As a BUAV umpire you have the opportunity to do the following	·         To play a key role in the future of the great sport of baseball. ·         The enjoyment of officiating a State League game. ·         Meet and make new friends within the umpiring fraternity. ·         The chance to supplement your income whilst pursuing your hobby. ·         As a rookie umpire you will be part of The ‘Green Shirt’ program that identifies and protects less experienced umpires. ·         BV has adapted the ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy that warns against any abuse, dissent or arguing with umpires. ·         BV implemented a ‘Mandatory Sentencing’ model that supports umpire’s decisions and reduces tribunal attendance requirements. ·          The chance to work towards a state, Junior National, Senior National and ABL appointment. Once you have reached the elite level, the ABF can provide an opportunity officiated at major international events.
